Biography
Norma van Elburg-Jessurun was born in Surinam, South-America.
She spent her youth in Surinam and in he Caribbean island of Curaçao and became a registered nurse in The Netherlands, where she married. After her marriage she lived alternately in The Netherlands, Curaçao, Mexico and Chile. In 1995 she returned to The Netherlands again, but now lives in Spain.
Through self-study she deepened and broaden her natural artistic talents for drawing and painting, in later years follow by private lessons from local prominent artists like Luigi Pinedo (Curaçao), Juan Calderon, Hernán Larrain and Natty Parera (Chile).
Although she works with oil and acrylic paints, she prefers working with pastel, Especially for portraits. Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Chile, The Netherlands and Spain and may be found in private collections in those countries as well as in the United States, Argentina and Switzerland.
Today she works from a studio in a rural environment close to the Maigmó Mountains near the city of Alicante, where she has her own studio and exhibition facilities.
